NUFAISHA GIRLS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

MY TAKE

GIRLS MENTORSHIP

You probably have heard this a million times that when we support the growth and empowerment of young girls and women we raise the quality everyone’s life. Well recently, a friend of mine and I were involved in a heated debate on the need to mentor boys as well, while I have no objection to that I am more inclined to say that we are likely to make a bigger impact by making sure that the mentorship and empowerment of young girls is at the forefront of every discussion in this nation.

This is why..

My journey at Muthaa Foundation has been a remarkable one but let me not indulge in that right now. Being a part of the team that runs a successful Girls Mentorship program at Muthaa Foundation I have had the firsthand experience on the impact mentorship programs have on young girls.
The Nufaisha Girls Program story is an example of the strides that we can make as a nation if we invest on making sure that young girls through the Mentorship Programs are given mentors who encourage their ambition, empower their confidence, and keep them on track by helping them set goals and work toward achieving them.

The last six months have been inspiring to see young girls transformed and ready to make real difference in their life’s and within their peers. The inaugural program  held in April saw girls from all over the country convene to mark the beginning of an outstanding training program that introduces them to both local and global mentors.

Someone once said (I have no idea who...) that “Follow your heart, but be quiet for a while first, ask questions then feel the answer. Learn to trust your heart.” This is the spirit that embodies everything that the bi-annual program is all about; dedicated to helping young girls develop a deeper understanding of who they are while building strong, positive relationships. As a quality mentoring program, it teaches critical thinking skills that empower girls to form a network where they can develop authentic and genuine relationships.

As the days draw closer to this year’s second edition of the program to be held from the 26th - 30th November at the Koplings Christian Centre, the team at Muthaa foundation will definitely be out to ensure that we Mentor the many young girls in this upcoming generation to be extremely compassionate, globally aware, and want to participate in making the world a better place.

I know for a fact that by reaching out to mentor a girl or a young woman, you will not only change her life but put everyone's future in good hands.
