Immediately after work, we headed straight to Crowne Plaza, where the venue of the event was. We found some people had already arrived, seated, and chit chatting(probably about the the forthcoming night). We were ushered to our table and we sat down patiently.
First we listened to speeches from the various stakeholders, then we had a very lovely dinner.
Finally, the moment we had all been waiting for came...time to announce the winners. As i had mentioned, we went to the awards knowing that we had been nominated in JUST two categories; MDG 3-Promoting gender equality and empowering women; MDG 6-Combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
The night was full of surprises. We had actually been nominated in FOUR, not TWO categories, and ended up getting awarded in the three out of four! It is also important to note that there were more than 100 entries, so this is a big milestone for MCDF.
The categories are as follows:
- MDGs Promoting gender equality and empowering women (nominated)
- MDGs Improving maternal healthcare award (awarded)
- MDGs HIV/AIDS award, Malaria and other diseases (awarded)
- MDGs Youth empowerment award (awarded)
